What a wonderful way to start off the Christmas season! Those lucky enough, or brave enough, to venture out into our first snow of the year were treated to an afternoon of sensory delights. Our inn featured many dainty lights emanating from wee villages, garlanded mantels, decorated trees and wreaths, and flickering candles. A variety of handmade treats and Jim's lefse tantalized the taste buds while music flowed from the parlor. Joan and Jonathan played Christmas duets upon their violins as Mark and Martha duoed the piano accompaniment and Hilary and Mark sang along. A merry time was had by all. The beautiful snow created the perfect ambiance to the occasion. Only two hours of shoveling beforehand required by Jim and Jonathan!
The Inn seems a bit quiet now with a few guests now and then. My favorite early morning retreat (when not rented) is Daisy's Suite sunporch where I sit comfortably in front of the gas fireplace, candles lit, a creamy latte, book in hand, Lena purring contentedly upon my lap and Sven curled up in front of the fire. Does it get any better than that?
Come stay with us in Daisy's Suite and retreat from the world for just a bit! We'll let you borrow the cat, but probably not the dog!
That's all from Jim and Joan at the Ellery House.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
